Get answers to the most common questions that arise as a would be allotment holder or as an existing member

  • How do I become a plot holder?
Plots are allocated by the management committee and your first step is to register your interest via our Contact Us form or via the contact link at the foot of the page. Please note you can also register for a plot on the Cheltenham Road allotments via this site, the trustees are the same for both sites.
  • Who are the trustees?
St John’s Hospital Trust are the overall body to whom the management committee report. Full details about the charity can be found on the Charities Commission web site and the charity has two allotment sites and maintains 24 alms houses in Cirencester.
  • Do I need previous gardening experience?
The allotments welcome old hands and new, and provide a supportive community where we can all continue to learn how to get the best from our plot. We offer a range of sizes, so you can start small, or even share a plot. The committee keeps a weather eye on the condition and maintenance of the plots. Help is always at hand from other vegetable growers. Gardeners' Question Time once featured a glorious answer from Bob Flowerdew about advice to be had from fellow gardeners: ' your fellows can provide a wealth of experience and advice on how to grow the best vegetables. But never loose sight of the fact that you will also here the biggest load of nonsense, rumour, scuttlebutt and pseudoscience anywhere this side of the moon!'
